Post-processing Advice

We do not perform post-processing ourselves — but we advise on processes and machines, and introduce you to our specialized partners.

What we do

  • Advice on which post-processing steps your parts need: heat treatment, machining, surface finish, quality control
  • Recommendation of suitable machines and processes for in-house investment or for outsourcing
  • Introduction to our partner network of specialized CNC, heat treatment and QA companies in BENELUX

How the process unfolds

  1. 01
Parts analysis What end-spec do you need: tolerances, surface, material properties, certification.
  2. 02
Post-processing roadmap Per part: required steps, sequence, and best execution route.
  3. 03
Partner introduction We introduce you to partners in our network best suited to your specific need.
  4. 04
Follow-up if desired We support the first execution with the partner — afterwards you work with them directly.

Who this service is for

  • Companies that print but don't yet have a clear route for end-finishing
  • Companies wanting to compare: invest in in-house post-processing capacity vs outsource
  • Companies looking for a reliable, vetted partner — without having to search or test themselves

Real-world examples

CNC partner for medical implant batches

A medical startup had no in-house 5-axis CNC and wanted to machine their Wire-LMD preforms to end-spec. We introduced them to a specialized partner in Eindhoven with medical certification. An ongoing contract since then that has proven itself.

Heat treatment Ti6Al4V on location

A customer with Wire-LMD prints in Ti6Al4V needed stress relief and heat treatment with documented temperature curves. Recommendation: a Belgian heat-treater in our partner pool with aerospace experience. Short lead time, certificates included.

In-house vs outsource post-processing analysis

Customer considered acquiring a small in-house CNC and heat treatment oven. Our TCO analysis: at their projected volume in the early years, outsourcing was more economical; at higher volumes an in-house CNC would pay back. Result: phased acquisition roadmap.

Frequently asked questions

Why do you not do post-processing yourselves?

Honestly: post-processing is a specialism in its own right with its own investments in machines, certifications and knowledge. Our partners have been doing this at top level for years. We add value through advice and partner introduction, not by poorly imitating what they do better.

Do we get the same price via you as directly with the partner?

We add nothing on top of the partner price. Often our customer can even get better terms via our introduction because we deliver volume to the partners.

What if we already have our own preferred partner?

No problem. We then advise on processes and specifications, and you work directly with your own partner. Our advisory service is separate from our partner introduction.

How do you vet the partners?

Personal knowledge: we visit the workshop, look at references, and test quality on concrete jobs for our own customers. We only introduce partners we would do business with ourselves.
